In this guide I’m going to show you how to sync your iPhone contacts with your Gmail account. With this, all your iPhone contacts will be automatically uploaded and saved in Google contacts and any changes will reflect on both the sides, i.e your iPhone contacts and Google contacts.
Using my Android I was able to get Sync my Android phone contacts with my Google contacts and now I have my iPhone, I did same and I am able to have all my contacts in my iPhone and Google account. To Sync iPhone contacts with Gmail Google account helps you to always have your contacts intact.
You don’t have to worry about losing your contacts, even when you lose your iPhone, or changed to new phone. All you need do is login to your Gmail Google account and you retrieve all of your contacts.

1. Go to your iPhone Settings
2. Go to “Contacts” > Accounts
3. Now go to “Add Account” > Google
4. At this point, you will be required to log into your Google account. All you need do is simply login to your Gmail account and if you are using 2-step verification, then you get a code on your mobile phone, then login to your account.

5. Now the iPhone operating system “iOS” will connect Google and Google will ask for your permission to allow iOS to access and manage your mails, contacts and so on.
6. Tap “Accept” to grant the permission.
7. You will see all items from your Gmail which could be accessed on your iPhone. Ensure the Contacts toggle is set to ON (this means it should be green).
Now your iPhone Contacts app will sync with your Gmail / Google Contacts. But syncing will occur only when you will open the Contacts app in your iPhone. Therefore, after following steps outline above, you should open the Contacts app in iPhone.
When you do so, you will notice that your mobile data transfer icon will begin to spin. This means that the iPhone is transferring data to and from Google Contacts. You should keep the Contacts app open as long as the spinner shows data transfer. This will ensure that all your contacts are synced.
Meanwhile, if you open Contacts App later on, iPhone will check if there is a newly added contact in your iPhone. If there is, syncing will automatically take place again.
Before setting up your iPhone to sync with Google account, if you already had Contacts in your iPhone, they may not get synced with Google. Only contacts that will be synced are the ones added after sync is setup. To get around this problem you will have to export iPhone contacts and import them manually into Google account.
