What Is A Facebook Poke : “Poking” is a simple but addictive feature offered on Facebook. Poking your friends sends them an instant notification saying “(Your name) poked you.” At this point, your friend gets the option to poke you back. Poke simply means “hello” on Facebook, it is used to bring the attention or focus of other Facebook users to the individual who poked. After poking it shows a notification on the individual page which is a hand together with his/her username, it is always fascinating to view. Unlike other posts, only the person you poked can view or see such notification.
You can poke your friends on Facebook as well as a mutual friends of your friends but you can’t poke someone who is yet to accept your friend request or those you have blocked on Facebook.

When you receive a poke, you have the option to accept or ignore it. To accept it, you can poke the individual back or reply with a private message or a post on his/her timeline. Many don’t fancy accepting a poke, so they just ignore their friends poke.
There are a number of reasons to send pokes, both to your friends and to people who aren’t on your friends list, including:
To poke someone:
If someone pokes you, you’ll receive a notification under the “world” icon for notifications on the blue menu bar on the right. If you click on that notice, you’ll be taken to a screen where you can choose a “Poke Back” option inside of a blue button with a hand icon. You will also see below that a list of suggested people to poke.
You can also delete the poke by clicking on the grey “x” to the right of the Poke Back button.
One thing to keep in mind is that you cannot poke the same person twice unless the individual has returned or removed your first poke.
If you want to stop someone from poking you, you can block them by clicking on the question mark icon on the top right of the blue menu bar. Go to Privacy Shortcuts and choose the third option, “How do I stop someone from bothering me?” A screen will pop up where you can enter the person’s name or email address.
You can easily poke a Facebook user from your mobile phone. It’s quite similar to using a desktop computer or laptop.
