This space shuttle can transport satellites and other craft in the orbiters cargo bay for deployment in space. It can also rendezvous with going around spacecraft to allow astronauts to supply service or board them and retrieve them to earth. Furthermore, the orbiter can serve as a space service for conducting projects and making observations on earth and cosmic object for about two weeks. However, in some cases, it carries a European-built pressurized facility in which shuttle crew members experiment biological and research in weightless conditions.

The first space shuttle was launched on April 12 1981 by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). In few minutes before it takes off, Kennedy Space Center Launch Control had a dialogue with Astronauts John Young and Robert Crippen as they both prepare to take Columbia on its first test flight into space and be back. A lot of people where very surprised when it was first launched. And they can’t believe that astronauts can visit space on the space shuttle.
