Hide Your Birthday on Facebook : For some of us, Facebook is the reminder that alerts us about important birthdays you probably might have forgotten. There are times when I totally forget birthdays of close friends until I come on Facebook to see the notification. For some of us though, we would prefer to keep our birthdays off Facebook.

How to stop Facebook from notifying friends about your birthday

If you’re doing this on mobile using the Facebook app, follow these 5 steps:

1. Go to your profile, the tap Edit Profile.

2. Scroll down, locate Edit Your About Info and select this.

3. Scroll down to Basic Info and tap Edit.

4. Tap the audience selector beside Birthday and set to Only Me.

5. Do the same thing for Birth Year and set to Only Me.

If you’re accessing Facebook from a computer, the process is almost the same.

1. Go to your timeline and click About

2. On the left panel, select Contact and Basic Info

3. One your Birthday and Birth Year, set the audience selector to Only Me.

With this done, your birthday should no longer appear on your profile and friends will no longer be notified when your birthday approached.

How is your birthday set on Facebook?

You may have noticed that Facebook does not really ask you when your birthday is while signing up. That is because if you linked your Gmail ID to your Facebook account, Facebook will automatically use your birthdate associated with your Google account

If you did not sign up with a Gmail account, Facebook simply uses your date of birth that you need to enter for age verification to calculate your birthday on the app.

Launch the Facebook app on your device. Tap the hamburger menu in the top right corner, select ‘See your profile’ to reach your Facebook profile.
Tap the three dots under your name beside the ‘Add to Story’ button. Now select ‘Edit Profile’.
Scroll down right to the bottom and tap ‘Edit Your About Info’.
Now scroll down till you reach the ‘Basic Info’ section and tap ‘Edit’. Now go ahead and set your birthday under the ‘Birthday’ tab.
Hit ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page once you are done.

How to Prevent Facebook from Notifying Your Friends of Your Birthday | Hide Your Birthday on Facebook

If you wish to go ahead and prevent all your friends getting notifications on your birthday, follow the steps presented below.

On Facebook App

On your Facebook app, tap on the avatar icon at the top(Android) or bottom(iOS) to access your profile.
Scroll down and tap “Edit profile“.
Scroll down to the “Basic Info” section and tap “edit“.
Tap on the drop-down arrow beside “Birthday” and set to “Only Me“.
Set the “Birthyear” option to “Only Me” as well.

On Facebook Website

Once logged onto Facebook via the Facebook website, visit your Timeline and click “About“.
Select “Contact and Basic Info” in the left pane.
Choose “Only Me” option for “Birthday” and “Birth Year“.

Doing this will remove your birth information from your profile and also ensure none of your friends get notifications on your birthday, about your birthday.
